Description
Game Jam + is a jam that looks to go beyond just developing a cool game in a weekend. At the end of the event, each team must pitch their project to a panel of industry veterans. Besides describing the game, participants must convince the judges of the financial viability of their project. The judges will select a winner, but we’re not finished yet! After three months of additional development, the winners from each site across the globe compete in a final pitching event that takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Game Jam + was held in multiple cities in Brazil during 2017 and 2018, but 2019 was the first year it became an international event. Our game development club had experience organizing game jams thanks to Global Game Jam, but this was our first time dealing with elements such as mentors and judging. The judging was a bit hectic and the pitching finished late, but overall we were satisfied with the result: over 80 participants created 10 games in 48 hours!
